People with oily skin need a cleanser with a lower PH level to reduce sebum production and those with sensitive skin will want a basic cleanser that is free from heavy fragrance and irritants. Many of us think of potent alcohol concoctions when it comes to toner, and although they may have been popular years ago, today’s toners have ingredients that tackle specific skin concerns without adverse reactions.

What does it do?

Toners help remove excess oil, impurities, and residue from your cleanser. Many professional toners in today’s market contain vitamins, amino acids, enzymes, and other advanced ingredients gently exfoliate to create a healthy glow. Not all toners are the same and many of them lack ingredients to dig deeper than the surface of your skin. Some toners can even do more damage than good, so understanding the ingredients in your toner and understanding your skin type is important in choosing your toner! #3 Topical Treatments and Serums.

Topical treatments and even serums often cross over with each other because they both include similar, powerful and healing ingredients.

What does it do?

Treatment and serum products help address specific skin concerns you may be facing. Treatments are usually applied to the specific desired areas to correct a problem such as wrinkles, pigments, redness or a breakout. Serums are an all over application that will help with the overall skin care concern. Serums and treatments are also referred to as “correctives”, because they help correct specific skin problems.

Your body and skin rejuvenate and repair itself overnight, which makes it one of the best reasons to apply treatments at night while your skin breathes (if you’re a makeup wearer).

When do I apply serums?

Serums can usually be used day and/ or at night. Skin care serums are a little more versatile since help calm or hydrate the skin prior to makeup application.

Masks are a great way to pamper yourself at home for a mini-spa treatment! Masks are suggested to be used weekly for best results and also target specific skin concerns.

What do masks do?

Masks can exfoliate, purify, detoxify, absorb oil, soothe, protect and hydrate your skin. Different types of masks and brands will give you different results. #5 Moisturizer.

If you have oily skin you don’t need moisturizer, right? Wrong! Moisturizer is an essential step for all skin types.

Moisturizer prevents and protects your skin from damaged skin. When your skin is dry and irritated, it can attribute to early aging and breakouts/ acne. Moisturizer is not just for dry skin.

#7 Eye Cream.

As we age, the laugh lines that form around are eyes and mouth are usually the first signs. Eye creams help reduce sagging eyelids, minimize fine lines and wrinkles, decrease puffiness, brighten dark circles and hydrate your skin.
