If you’d like to wake up with luscious lashes without having the maintenance of mascara, eye makeup remover or falsies, you’ve come to the right place! Semi-permanent lash extensions are hand-glued on each of your individual eyelashes by a lash artist/ technician. These types of eyelash extensions are very customizable and many looks can be achieved because they don’t come in a strip! There are a few things that you should know before making an appointment for eyelash extensions. A little research goes a long way and can help you maintain them as best as possible.
1. There are different lengths and thicknesses available for lashes.
At Revive, we offer classic, hybrid, volume and mega-volume eyelash extensions. The differences will vary in the lash extensions themselves. When single, finer lash extensions are combined, it is called a fan. Lash extensions can vary in length, thickness and curl and are combined to create your specialized look.
2. Having lash extensions does not mean they have to be dramatic!
If you’ve thought about having lash extensions but you were worried they would be too intense, you’re not alone! Lash extensions are completely customizable. Lash extensions vary in thickness, curl, length and fans. This creates different types of lash extensions and your lash artist will help you decide which one is best for you and your face shape.
3. There are different types of lash extensions.
Knowing a little about the different types of lash extensions, can help you determine which type may work best for you and your lifestyle. The main types of lash extensions are classic, hybrid, volume and mega-volume.
- Classic Lash Extensions: Classic Lashes add length and depth to your current lashes while still looking natural and classic. They are created by adding one lash extension to one of your natural lashes.
- Hybrid Lash Extensions: In terms of length and volume, Hybrid Lashes are between Classic and Volume. These lashes give a layered, textured look. While some lash sets, like Russian Volume can look uniform in length, the hybrid offers a mixed between Volume and Classic lashes.
- Volume Lash Extensions: A trained lash artist creates this look by hand making fans of 3-6 lashes, and applying that to one of your lashes. Volume lashes have a soft and fluffy look or dramatic look depending on your desires.
- Mega-Volume Lash Extensions: Mega-Volume lashes are the most dramatic lashes there are! They are very similar to volume lash extensions but the number of lashes that are added to the fan increases. Mega-Volume lash extensions could have up to 15 lashes to your natural lashes.
4. Maintenance and care is key to beautiful lash extensions!
After getting lash extensions, your lash artist will advise you on immediate care. It’s important to listen to their care tips so your lashes last as long as possible before needing a fill! Some of these tips include: not getting them wet for 24 hours, clean around your eyes with a washcloth, avoid rubbing your eyes, do not use an eyelash curler, and a few others that your lash artist will explain. You’ll also clean them with lash shampoo and brush with a spoolie daily to have them look their best and last longer. The spoolie will become your best friend! It’s super helpful if your lashes get tangled for some reason. If possible, sleeping on your back is recommended. If you do toss and turn, using a silk pillowcase can help with any rubbing if you are a stomach sleeper.
5. The end result of lash extensions are different for EVERYONE.
We all have different amounts of natural lashes as well as natural thicknesses. If your lashes don’t turn out just like a picture, that’s totally normal! The beauty in lash extensions is that everyone has a unique look. It is also very helpful to show your lash artist what you are going for so they can achieve that desired look.
6. We recommend fills every 2-3 weeks.
Depending on your shedding, fills every 2-3 weeks will help keep costs down as well to maintain them on a regular basis. Fills are much less expensive than getting a new set every month or even other month! If you wait too long it will become a
7. You don’t have to spend as much time getting ready!
You’ll literally wake up and realize you don’t have to worry about putting on one, two or even three layers of mascara to obtain your desired look. Lash extensions make morning routines a breeze and you don’t have to worry about mascara clumps, mascara or eyeliner running or removing your makeup every night.
8. Not all lash extensions are the same!
There are a few main types of lash extensions: faux, faux mink, silk, and real fur. We proudly use Marble, Minkys and LashBox LA lash extensions, which are faux mink. These eyelash extension brands create weightless extensions, which means they’ll be some of the most comfortable lash extensions you’ll ever have. They create beautiful fans to give you dramatic lashes and are extremely flexible, meaning they won’t look stiff and fake!
9. You guessed it.. Not all lash extension artists are the same!
All of our lash extension artists are estheticians and receive additional certifications to offer each type of lash extension (Classic, Hybrid, Volume and Mega-Volume). At Revive we also encourage continued education whenever new techniques become available.
10. Lash extensions don’t damage your natural lashes.
This has been a misconception for many years. Professionally applied lash extensions will not cause damage to your natural lashes, granted that you also get them removed professionally or filled professionally.
11. Don’t wait too long to get fills.
If you are cleaning and brushing your lashes, you should be able to get a fill in about 3 weeks. However, if you wait too long and you have less than 40% of your lash extensions remaining, we may have to charge as an entire set. Keeping a regular and consistent schedule for your lash extensions will help ensure that you are scheduled when you need to be!
12. People of ALL ages get lash extensions.
At Revive, we have seen all ages for eyelash extensions! Our clients are all ages and some of them just want the simplicity of not wearing makeup. It is not just the “young people” getting lash extensions and we are seeing that more and more! Most clients just find it easier to not deal with the smudging and clumps, and that’s coming from women of all ages!A
13. Lash extensions are not painful.
We often get asked if they will be in pain during their appointment, the answer is no! In fact, we have some clients who fall asleep during their appointment! The average time for an appointment is about two hours but that can vary depending on the type of your appointment.
14. Express sets are available!
If you’re unsure if lash extensions are right for you, we offer express sets. Express sets are the equivalent of one full set in one hour, instead of two. Express sets are available for classic, hybrid, and volume. If you absolutely love them, we can have you come back within a week to get a fill!
Lash extensions are the ultimate time-saver and confidence booster! If you have any questions about lash extensions, feel free to contact us over the phone, e-mail, or social media. We would love to hear your thoughts!
