You. Guys.

I know I already told you how excited we are about Vanity gracing us with their presence, but seriously, this is amazing.  They were here last Monday and we had so much fun! Thanks to all of you that came to visit & get poked 😛

We’re really looking forward to their next day here, August 14th, which you can call and schedule for now!

“Get to the point Erin, you said there’s a video.”

Boy, oh boy are you in for a treat! I took it upon myself to do some research for you, dear readers.  This was obviously a completely selfless act… I think it’s great for people to get a real idea of what they’re getting into before they have these cosmetic services done.  In the interest of full disclosure, before I let you see the video, I want you to know a few things:

  1. I have had Botox 2 times before this and all my injections have been done by Jessica of Vanity. I just love her 🙂
  2. I have had Juvederm in my lips 3 times before – twice about 6 years ago, and once more recently, also done by Jessica.
  3. I had not had filler in my cheeks previous to this.  I told Jessica to just go ahead and that I trusted her because I wanted to do as much research as I could for this blog.  See? Selfless. It’s all for you!
  4. Never during any of my previous injections have I bled like I did in this video.  I’m not totally sure what the cause was, but I don’t want it to scare anyone off.  Just like when you get a piercing or tattoo, the day or 2 before your appointment you want to avoid drinking alcohol or taking any unnecessary blood thinning medications, such as ibuprofen.  Even fish oil can have a slight blood thinning effect.

Alright, got those fun facts out of the way so we can move on.  Jessica put numbing cream on my lips first so it would have a chance to work while she was doing the other injections.  Not gonna lie – a little bit is going to sneak past your lips into your mouth and that stuff tastes gross.  After a few minutes though, the tip of my tongue went numb and I couldn’t taste it anymore! Ha!

*I’m warning you one more time: THIS VIDEO CONTAINS NEEDLES AND SOME BLOOD!*

Ok, proceed.

Crazy?! Crazy awesome! My time as a human pin cushion lasted less than 7 minutes for all of that.  Not bad, not bad at all.  Now I’m not saying that it feels great, but it is totally bearable.  The lips, as you can probably tell by my wincing, are the worst.  The numbing cream really does help though.

Now for some before, during, and afters.  I bruise pretty easily, and my lips always bruise, but that is not true for everyone.  All of our amazing bodies are different 🙂

My injections were done last Monday morning (the 17th).  I used Rejuvenique oil to help with the bruises, but other than that, I left them alone.  I took all of these by my bathroom window so I could try to get the same natural lighting.

My whole, glorious face this morning!

Piece of cake! A little colored lip gloss covered everything right up.  Almost everyone I encountered told me they wouldn’t have noticed if I hadn’t said something.  Now I’m not trying to end up on some “Plastic Surgery Addicts!” TV show – I never want to look unnatural.  This is just some preventative maintenance, because I’m a heck of a lot closer to 30 than I am to 20 and it’s a very real fact that your skin/collagen production starts to take a hit in your late 20s.

Alright lovelies, that’s all for today.  Stay tuned for another super exciting research project next week!!!
