Staying Sane in Quarantine!
Beauty and quarantine tips to avoid watching Tiger King or remodeling a house!
While we all do our part to flatten the curve, there are a few things we can do to stay grounded and embrace the uncertainty! Although it seems like a never ending extended weekend (wake up at noon, stay in our pajamas all day, and binge watch the latest of our favorite episodes), we could be making the most of our time in quarantine! Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for a rest day but we need to still have a routine and sense of control in our lives.
For the first time ever, nearly the entire United States is self-isolating at home. Whether you’re working from home, homeschooling kiddos or just trying to pass the time, stick with a routine to help keep your sanity!
“A little progress each day, adds up to big results”
ROUTINE
Don’t let the day get by you without achieving something! A daily routine should include time for self care, education and self improvement, physical activities, clean-up time, meals, and family time. The combination of these tasks and tips will help your day go by faster and help you feel more accomplished!
#1 Self Care.
Although we are MORE than capable of laying in sweats each day, not washing our face, and binge watching Netflix, this doesn’t help take care of our well-being! Now is the perfect time to embrace our beauty. Although we can’t get our brows waxed or get our lashes filled, we can still take care of ourselves!
-
- Let your skin breathe: Take a break from foundation and let your skin breathe. Your skin may take a few days to acclimate without makeup, and you may even experience a breakout – this is normal!
- Dial in your skin care routine: Your body thrives on routine: regular workouts, healthy meals, and consistent sleep, and the same goes for your skin! Therefore, there’s no better time to start using a skin care system designed specifically to target your concerns.

- Lashes: Let your lashes naturally grow! If your lash extensions are falling out due to quarantine, now is the perfect time to invest in a lash serum so your lashes are ready once the quarantine is lifted! This will help your lash extensions attach easier and bond better if you have thicker and longer natural lashes.
- Hair Growth: Grow out the areas you normally get waxed or threaded! If it gets unbearable you can pluck, but this is the perfect time to especially grow out your eyebrows for a full shape.
- Stop Using Hot Iron Tools: Styling your hair with heat has consequences! Take time off the curling iron and apply nourishing treatments, hair masks, hair oils, or other helpful products that deep condition the hair and help split ends.
#2 Education/ Self-improvement.
Education is important for everyone, not just kids! Set aside time everyday to either teach or learn. If you don’t have kids it’s a perfect time to read a self improvement book, set goals or do something to encourage your personal growth.
#3 Physical activities.
Even though we are stuck at home we can still go on hikes, walk/ bike around the neighborhood, or watch workout videos online! Exercise and fresh air help alleviate stress and anxiety that some may be feeling during this hectic time. Make it a goal to spend at least 30 minutes in fresh air and do 30 minutes of exercise a day.
#4 Spring Cleaning.
Spring cleaning is getting a whole NEW definition this year! Use this time to keep your home or room tidy. Organizing and cleaning is also associated with reducing stress levels and can help give you a sense of control. Here’s a helpful blog on cleaning.
#5 Meals/ Nourishment
Give yourself the nourishment you need to have the energy and mental clarity to make the most of each day. Our bodies are over 60% water, which is why it is so important for our body and skin to drink plenty of water. When you create your routine/ schedule, pencil in specified times for your meals to avoid not eating enough or over eating. Reduce your grocery store visits by planning and preparing your meals for the week. There are a ton of online resources and apps to help create meal plans or to give healthy recipes ideas.
#6 Quality Family Time
Unlike previous pandemics, we have technology at our fingertips to help keep us busy! Although technology is meant to bring us together, it can take away from those we are present with. In addition to taking time away from our family, excessive cell phone use is linked to higher stress levels, anxiety, irritability and fatigue. Just because we have access to be on our phone all day, doesn’t mean it is healthy for us or adolescents. Turn on the Screen Time feature to track how long you use your cell phone each day so that you can be mindful of how your time is spent. There is also a Social Limit feature 0n your smart phone that will “time-out” your social apps when it hits your timer limit. Instead, take this rare opportunity to make the most of each night with a game or family night! Put down the cell phones and spend good quality time with your quarantine family. Below are a list of activities and games that can bring us closer.
